Nothing New

Well today was pretty boring. I got out of the apartment for the first time since Sunday morning. I went to the Dentist and got a nightguard uggg. I miss my dentist back in LA he was kindof like a grandfather to me.

I miss my animals back in Louisiana a whole bunch. Especially my horse and dogs. I am always scared that my horse wo't rember me when I go into the pasture. We were just starting to build a relationship when we left. And I'm afraid my dogs will run away on one of their night hunts and not come back. Hopefully we can go back and vist pretty soon.

Descrimination

Since the month of February is coming up I thought I'd write an article on discrimination(February is National Black History Month). I'm going to try to get it published in the Opelousas, Louisiana newspaper called the Daily World as a letter to the Editor. Tell me what you think.

As the month of February approaches us it symbolizes something. Not Valentines Day, but National Black History Month. Along with this symbolism comes personal evaluation on the topic of discrimination. Some people consider themselves racist and others consider everybody created equally. Whichever group you fall in it doesn't really matter because honestly we all discriminate not specifically skin color, but in styles, clothes, talents, etc. basically discrimination by stereotypes. We consider ourselves normal and everyone else that is not remotely different from us is unusual or strange. The only thing that will change this conscious or unconscious discrimination is understanding and accepting that what makes us different should not divide us but bring us together. When we have united each of us can contribute different yet valuable views on culture and character not only socially, but also politically, mentally, spiritually, and emotionally. When we do this we will soon realize the reason why we were prejudice against someone different than ourselves is unjustly based and often exaggerated. Although we have come far in the area of discrimination we still need to realize that the differences by which we discriminate one another are not benefiting us only harming us. If we put aside our differences we can only improve the world by uniting to overcome. Like President Lincolin said, "All men are created equal."

Hey!
